Ten-year anniversary of Nordic Ukraine Forum
On the 29th of November 2024, Nordic Ukraine Forum hosted the seminar "Investing in Ukraine's Future" and celebrated its 10-Year Anniversary. This event was done in cooperation with the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics / Östekonomiska Institutet (SITE).
The seminar brought together key figures working on investing in Ukraine including:
- Ulrik Tideström, Swedish Government’s Special Envoy for Ukraine
- Andrii Plakhotniuk, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Sweden
- Tymofiy Mylovanov, President of Kyiv School of Economics
- Esben Gadsbøll, Co-founder of Defense Innovation Highway
- Judith Gough, Senior Strategic Advisor at Actagon, former UK Ambassador
- Roman Waschuk, Ukraine’s Business Ombudsman, Former Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine
Discussion was moderated by Torbjörn Becker, Director of SITE.
Together, they discussed the critical role of international investments in Ukraine’s defense, energy, IT, education, housing, and other key sectors. The speakers emphasized how russia's ongoing war against Ukraine is driving innovation at an unprecedented pace. They also highlighted that it is crucial for democratic nations to lead in innovation, with Ukraine offering invaluable lessons for the world.
Alina Zubkovych also shared reflections on Nordic Ukraine Forum's 10-year journey of advocacy, building bridges between Nordic countries and Ukraine, and the exciting plans for the future.
The event was followed by a reception which featured Ukrainian cuisine, Ukrainian wines, as well as beautiful performance of Ukrainian music. The evening has culminated in a meaningful charity auction in support of recovery of Ukrainian military medics and evacuation volunteers through Repower Charitable Foundation. The guests has also an opportunity to receive as a gift Stanislav Aseyev's book "Helvetet på Paradisgatan" published by Bite The Bullet Press.
